Our Precious Zoe Girl went to doggy Heaven today. She was such a blessing to our family. We got her when she was around 6 months old (we guess, we never really knew). Matthew was just 3 months old. She's been with us a little over 10 yrs. Starting in December we noticed she started having skin problems. Vet thought allergies... but we had her tested for a few different things. Nothing came up. So we had her on some meds to help her allergies. She only got worse. Brought her in more .. had more testing done and found she had a thyroid problem along with her allergies. We brought her back every month for check ups. She started getting arthritis and her joints swelled. She looked good for about month and we thought things were on the mend. Till... these last two weeks she started going down hill. We thought she was going blind because she would walk right into things and she would stare at the wall. Her skin started turning black and she lost sooo much hair in a matter of few days. We knew then things were getting bad. We called the Vet and got her in today... He said she has Cushings disease and possibly Mange, and has cataracts. Poor Girl. Her immune system was just too weak to handle all that. He was shocked at how fast she had deteriorated when we had just seen him a couple weeks ago for a check up! He said at her age.. all we could do was help keep her comfortable.. but it was going to cost. I hated making that decision today. But why sit there and watch your helpless dog slowly die? Plus we couldn't afford the amount it was going to cost to help just keep her comfortable. So sadly i made the decision to have her put to sleep :( I hated it! It most definitely does not feel right doing that. But i couldn't stand walking out my back door and seeing her sweet face and body looking so horrible.
She is now with Jesus and pain free. She took such good care of us. Matthew is having a very difficult time :( He was so sweet. He decorated a shoe box in memory of her and we put her collar and leash in it. I will have some photos made so he can put those in there to. He loved Zoe.
Luke doesn't understand it quite yet. He keeps asking if we are gonna go see Zoe at the Vet soon. The boys were with me when i had to make that decision. Matthew understood but Luke didn't.

We will forever remember her. Such a sweet special girl she was to our family. She was loved by many of our neighbors and neighbor kiddos as well. We love you Zoe and we will miss you sweet girl. ♥
